In a story headlined 'Empty Promises' the Big Issue North reports on Bradford's 4,000 plus empty homes. While nearly 16,000 languish on council waiting lists and action has been taken on less than 100.

"Since 2010 Bradford Council has acquired 27 homes by compulsory purchase and 32 have been voluntarily transferred". Though the council has many innovative approaches to action, the scale of the problem is still a challenge. This is why a major national programme is needed to back local councils with the resources to take action.
